From Tallinn harbour towards Pärnu and then Virtsu. There is a ferry connection from Virtsu to Kuivastu during season time each hours and in winter time each second hour. Capacity is 30-300 cars (depending on the size) and there is a possibility for meals and coffee. Tickets are purchased in ticket office between the lanes in summer time and in the winter time inside the main building. Especially in summer time advance booking is recommended.

You can also take a bus or flight from Tallinn to Saaremaa. Prices are affordable (bus 200 kr and flight 475 in 2007). By Bus: Bussireisid or Neomobile. By airplane: Kuressaare airport and Avies.

Direct flight from Helsinki start in fall 2007 and from Stockholm there are regular flights during summer time.

Driving from Kuressaare: Kihelkonna road 15 km, turn left from "Lümanda 13" -sign, continue towards Lümanda 10 km, road cross sign "Karala 10", then 5 km towards Karala direction, you'll arrive to Jõgela village (you'll see on your right an old soviet style storage building that is 1.5 km before Ratsukievari), turn to right from the old wind mill and you have arrived to Ratsukievari after 150 m. Distance from Kuressaare 33 km.
